Save Our Supplements (SOS)

CHC launched the SOS campaign in May 2002 to protect the VMS industry against forthcoming European legislation. The message of the campaign is protecting freedom of choice in natural healthcare. CHC recently launched an E-Petition to collect one million signatures in order to put pressure on the Government in general and on the health minister Melanie Johnson MP in particular.

Children’s Food Bill Campaign

Sustain launched the Children's Food Bill Campaign which calls for government action on junk food. The Bill would introduce a range of measures to improve children's food, children's diets and their current and future health. These include: protecting children from the marketing of unhealthy food and drink products; improving standards to ensure that all school meals are healthy; banning the sale of unhealthy food and drinks from school vending machines; teaching food education and practical food skills, such as growing, to all children; and ensuring the government promotes healthy foods, like fruit and veg, to children.

Five Year Freeze

The Five Year Freeze campaign calls on the Government for a freeze on the growing of GM plants and the production of GM farm animals for any commercial purpose; the imports of GM foods, plants, farm crops and farm animals and produce from GM plants and animals; and the patenting of genetic resources for food and farm crops. The campaign is supported by an alliance of 120 national organisations encompassing a wide range of interests including environmental campaigns, local authorities and retailers.
