Clipper targets green tea cynics

Clipper has launched a range of green teas, including naturally sweeter varieties, aiming to convert ‘even the staunchest green tea cynic’.

With UK consumers being urged to cut down on sugar, and Britons consuming over one million cups of sugar a day through tea alone, Clipper is trying to help ease the transition to sugar-free with the new range which consists of the fruity Pear & Honey, Cranberry and Mango as well as Lime & Ginger.

Gill Green, marketing director at Clipper comments: “In the first three months of 2015, Clipper Green Tea volume sales have increased by 15%. We conducted research amongst ‘new to green’ consumers which shows that Green Tea, as a category, is more closely aligned with being actively healthy than herbal or fruit teas. The research also found that consumers are motivated to drink Green Tea in order to benefit from its potential to cleanse, calm and detoxify.”

In May, Clipper became the first tea brand to use unbleached tea bags across its entire range.
