It’s goodbye from us, say Dandelion owners

South London health food retailer Dandelion is to close, say its founders Kate Sawyer and Claire Bateman. The store has been a popular feature of Battersea’s Northcote Road for nearly 20 years.

In an email to customers and supporters, the pair say they have been forced to close as their lease has ended “with no prospect of renewal”.

They write: “It is with great sadness that we have to announce that on 30 April 2015 Dandelion will be closing our door forever. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your loyal custom.”

Bateman adds: “I cannot imagine not chatting with you all. I have truly loved my job. I am staying in the health industry working in another (non local) health shop and concentrating on my own shop/cafe project when the right location arises.”

Sawyer says she will continue with her career as a professional actor but is also “looking at potential café or pop-up food ventures in South London”. She adds: “I am still planning to publish the recipes that I created for Dandelion over the last 11 years and are so popular on our deli every day!”

NPN editor, Jim Manson, said: “It’s a shame to see such a well-loved store like Dandelion have to close in these circumstances. Other health store owners and staff will remember the fabulous food that the Dandelion provided at the 2011 National Health Store Conference – so, quite a few of us will be looking out for those recipes Claire!”
