Beyond Meat has launched its “revolutionary” Beyond Sausage product onto the UK market in what the company says is the first plant-based sausage designed to look, taste and sizzle just like pork.

Beyond Sausage is made from a blend of protein-rich peas, fava beans and brown rice along with coconut oil to provide juiciness, all wrapped in a 100% plant-based casing derived from algae.

The bratwurst-style sausage has more protein than its pork-based equivalent, with 38% less saturated fat and less sodium. It is soya, gluten and GMO-free.

We are grateful and excited to serve the UK consumer and to be in dialogue with them as we continue to bring new products to market.”

The product is initially retailing in the chilled meat aisle of Tesco stores having been launched into London’s new NEAT Burger restaurant in September.
