Moving Mountains has announced the retail debut of its ‘bleeding’ Burger this month through a partnership with Ocado which will see a range of the brand’s cook-at-home frozen products available on the online supermarket.

Alongside Moving Mountains ‘iconic’ Burger – previously only available in restaurants – the all-natural plant-based offering also includes the brand’s Sausage Burger and two new SKUs – Meatballs and Mince.

The soya-free Mince is produced using ingredients including oyster mushrooms, onion, coconut oil and pea protein. The defrosted Mince cooks in ten minutes and provides the same meaty taste, texture and adaptability as beef mince, says the brand.

The new Meatballs use rice, oats, oyster mushrooms, coconut oil, pea protein and beetroot, seasoned with herbs to give a juicy, meaty taste. They can be baked from frozen in 20 minutes or pan-fried in ten minutes.

“We have partnered with Ocado to extend our cook-at-home range at a time when the nation needs more plant-based choices than ever,” says brand founder Simeon Van der Molen. “With the launch of our ground-breaking Moving Mountains Mince and Meatballs, alongside our Sausage Burger and the exclusive retail launch of our signature bleeding Burger, we are fulfilling our mission to make truly inspiring flexitarian cuisine available to home cooks across the nation.

“This exciting partnership with Ocado allows Moving Mountains to support UK consumers’ plant-based journeys every day, offering more flexitarian choice than ever and delivered directly to their doors,” adds Ocado buyer Juliet Hall. “As consumers gain more awareness of plant-based alternatives that can be easily incorporated into their home cooked meals, Moving Mountains provides a delicious solution for our customers who are looking for healthy, flexitarian cooking inspiration.”

Moving Mountains ‘revolutionary’ Burger made its debut on the market in 2018 with the claim that when perfectly cooked it ‘bleeds’ through the middle – but with beetroot juice not animal blood. The brand says that over the last year, seven million of the Burgers have been sold in restaurants.

The products are certified by the Vegan Society.
