IADSA launches online VMS resource

The London-based International Alliance of Dietary/Food Supplement Associations (IADSA) has introduced a new online information resource, Mind the Gap, designed to facilitate more effective communication about the benefits of dietary supplements.

Borrowing its name from the warnings posted at UK railway stations advising passengers to be aware of the space between the train and the platform, the initiative aims to highlight the difference between the amount of nutrients needed for optimum wellbeing and the quantity actually consumed. It also seeks to fill gaps in knowledge, while showcasing the results of relevant research and real-life examples of successful nutrition programmes.

Commenting on the resource, Cynthia Rousselot, IADSA director of technical and regulatory affairs, says: “Mind the Gap delivers additional communications support to our members, helping them to explain the value of supplementation.

“Mind the Gap resources will be available in a range of formats – digital and printed. All will deliver a compelling narrative that can be used in whole or in part as the basis for meaningful discussions about the role of supplements in promoting health and wellbeing.”

The initial two entries in the series focus on vitamin D, describing its benefits for improving bone density and providing an account of a successful fortification and supplementation initiative implemented in Finland.

The IADSA is promoting Mind the Gap on Twitter and LinkedIn using the hashtag #iadsamindthegap.
