The Leicestershire-based VMS manufacturer Lifeplan Products Limited has invested £990,000 in a ten-month expansion project designed to boost productivity by a significant 50%.

The manufacturing facility has seen a major overhaul with the installation of nine new machines to streamline the production process and allow for maximum manufacturing flow in the most fast, safe and efficient way possible whilst maintaining the brand’s standards.

The new, high capacity machines include a blender, multiple tablet presses, a coating machine and an offline metal detecting machine which will take Lifeplan a step closer to achieving BRC (British Retail Consortium) certification.

The investment, which was jointly funded by Lloyds Bank Asset Finance and the Midland Engine Investment Fund Debt Finance, and managed by Maven Capital Partners, will create job opportunities in the area, with ten additional operatives being employed in the manufacturing department.

As we increase our capability we will be taking on more staff, supporting the local economy, something which we are extremely passionate about

“It’s a very exciting time for us at Lifeplan as we continue to grow the business, and this significant investment project is the biggest in Lifeplan’s 35-year history,” explains the company’s MD Jackie Robinson (pictured). “We are very proud that we manufacture on site in Lutterworth, and with such a sizeable investment we will be able to substantially increase both our productivity and profitability.

“As we increase our capability we will be taking on more staff, supporting the local economy, something which we are extremely passionate about. There is a bright future ahead for Lifeplan as we continue to prosper and innovate, providing the very best vitamins, minerals and botanical supplements, helping people around the world enjoy a healthy balanced lifestyle.”

The newly expanded manufacturing facility will be opened on 5 September by South Leicestershire MP Alberto Costa, who comments: “As a core employer in Lutterworth, I am immensely proud that Lifeplan calls South Leicestershire home. This new landmark investment will make a huge difference to Lifeplan’s productivity and will keep them at the very forefront of the vitamin supplement sector. I have had the pleasure of visiting Lifeplan on several occasions during my time as MP for South Leicestershire and I really look forward to visiting again in September to formally open their newly expanded manufacturing facility.”
