Authentic Indian snack range is hit with independents

New gourmet Indian snack brand Howdah is quickly establishing itself in the independent natural food channel.

Launched with a six product strong range inspired by authentic Indian cuisine, Howdah is stocked in over 70 indies and listed by Tree of Life, CLF and Suma. The range has just picked up its second Great Taste Award.

Created in the UK by entrepreneur Falu Shah, the products are manufactured in India using locally sourced ingredients and recipes that reflect traditional home cooking. Made using fresh herbs, spices and flours they are additive-free and vegetarian – three are gluten-free too.

Howdah spokesperson Clare Rix said: “Falu wanted to introduce to the UK snacks like those she would cook in the home for her family. What we have found us that consumers really appreciate that the Howdah range offers an authentic Indian food experience.

The Howdah product line-up comprises: Onion Bhaji, Peppered Banana Chips, Bakarwadi Bites, Bombay Puri, Peanut Pakoras and Masala Banana Chips. The products come in ‘share size’ 100gm backs with an RRP of £1.99.
