New Lancashire-based company My Hair Secret has launched a nutritional supplement called Hair Growth Formula PLUS+.

The scientifically formulated supplement contains Lustalox – a blend created by brand founder and scientist Emma Procter – which contains a blend of ingredients designed to block the formation of dihydrotestosterone, a hormone linked to baldness and hair loss, stimulate growth and add essential nutrients to help maintain healthy, thick hair. The supplement also includes biotin, zinc, copper and selenium.

The supplement is vegan, dairy- and gluten- and cruelty-free and 100% drug-free.

Procter, from Preston in Lancashire, says: “There are many reasons why a person can suffer from thin, weak hair or hair loss. It can be due to stress, medication, illness, genetics or a variety of other reasons. Research shows that one of the main reasons we see an increase in hair loss as we age is that our hair follicles become sensitive to a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This hormone attacks the hair follicles, causing them to shrink.  When the hair follicle shrinks, blood flow and nutrients are restricted causing the hair to become thin and weak.”

She adds: “During our research, it truly shocked me to see that there so many products out there containing marine animals for collagen, some of which include ingredients such as shark cartilage,” explains Procter. “It became very important to me to find ingredients that worked just as well, if not better in order to give the public an effective, cruelty-free alternative.”
