Global natural personal care market continues on strong growth path

The natural personal care market saw a growth of 10.6% globally in 2013 to reach $29.5 billion at the manufacturers’ level, according to Kline & Company’s Natural Personal Care: Global Market Brief.

Growth was even seen in mature markets such as the US, which experienced a 7% growth, and Europe which saw the market grow by 6% despite the south of the region experiencing very poor retail conditions.

Globally, since 2008 the sector has experienced double-digit growth and has seen a compound annual growth rate of 11.3%. The market is projected to post an increase of 9.2% to reach $46 billion by 2018.

Carrie Mellage, VP of Kline’s Consumer Products practice, commented: “Although growth numbers have settled, many factors, including a focus on new natural ingredients, the opening of new channels of distribution, and consumer movement demanding greater transparency in labelling, are stimulating the industry. Moreover, marketers are offering products specifically designed for specific demographic groups like men and babies, thereby opening up greater opportunities.”
