GO! Organic Festival launches

Announced during a presentation at the Soil Association trade briefing on 19 September, GO! Organic Festival has been officially launched.

The festival answers what the event organiser, Diversified Communications, calls a ‘clear need’ for a major new event which brings organic to a wider, combined audience of consumers, families and trade professionals.

“So many people have asked us to do something like this,” says Carsten Holm, managing director of Diversified Communications. Speaking at the Soil Association briefing, Holm called the event a ‘high profile, unique celebration of all things organic’ and said the idea of launching a public-facing organic event was to design something ‘much more inclusive’ within the sector, bringing everybody together.

With support from the Soil Association and the Organic Trade Board (OTB) the two-day festival opens its doors on 8 September 2018 in Battersea Park, London, coinciding with both Organic September and the OTB’s £2m consumer marketing campaign.

“Our aim is to celebrate, entertain and educate receptive consumers in an incredible festival setting”

Speaking to NPN following the launch, Holm outlined the festival’s key objectives: “Our aim is to celebrate, entertain and educate receptive consumers in an incredible festival setting, with live music, celebrities, talks, great food and inspiration for the whole family. Above all, we want it to be fun and to create an environment which reflects the values and ideals of the organic sector in an entertaining and immersive way. We want visitors to feel that they have plenty of opportunity to learn more about organic principles and the importance of a sustainable lifestyle – but we also want them to feel that they have had a great value, fun and an entertaining day out.”

At its inaugural event GO! Organic Festival expects to receive in excess of 15,000 visitors through its doors, welcoming them with more than one hundred stalls exhibiting organic food, drink and lifestyle products. In the large outdoor space a main stage and craft beer tent will set the scene for a packed festival line-up of engaging, interactive activities, including live music, comedy, children’s entertainment, celebrity talks, cooking demos, health and beauty seminars and a ‘meet the farmer’ segment.
