Jerome Burne is HFMA Health Journalist of the Year

The HFMA’s Health Journalist of the Year Award has been awarded to Jerome Burne at this year’s Natural & Organic Products Europe on the 8th April 2013.

The Award is made annually by the HFMA (Health Food Manufacturers’ Association) in recognition of the work of “serious, progressive health writers and broadcasters”.

Jerome Burne is an acclaimed freelance health and medical journalist predominantly writing for the Daily Mail. He is known for advocating a preventative approach to health, looking at lifestyle and natural measures as opposed to relying on pharmaceutical products. He has memorably stated that “science-based does not always mean drug-based and that natural approaches are achieving astounding success rates.”

HFMA chairman Martin Last said: “Jerome has been a strong supporter of the natural health industry throughout his long and varied career. Our industry has faced a tough year with issues such as over-regulation and legislative change affecting factors such as consumer choice, so support from a high profile journalist such as Jerome is more important than ever to promote understanding and research based reporting within the industry.”

Commenting on his award, Jerome said: “I’m delighted to receive this as I always thought that the HMFA were on the side of the angels. With soaring rates of chronic lifestyle diseases, healthy eating is more important than ever. I look forward investigating cutting edge research into diet for years to come.”
