Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust has created its own brand of skin creams – My Trusty – that is free from parabens, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS), preservatives or artificial perfumes.

In the first commercial venture of its kind in the NHS, the brand is being sold in independent natural products stores and hospital shops, as well as being stocked in some Tesco and Superdrug stores, with all profits being returned to the Trust.

The cream was first created 30 years ago by skincare research scientists and pharmacists at Salisbury District Hospital to treat the ‘new’ skin on burns and plastic surgery patients. Demand from patients and staff led to it being produced in the pharmacy and sold direct to patients over the counter, it was then put forward as a commercial idea in one of the NHS Innovation Hubs.

“These are exciting times for the My Trusty brand. We’re thrilled to be taking the next step into commercial retail, giving everyone the opportunity to not only buy a truly effective skincare range with years of NHS expertise behind it, but to also give something back to the NHS,” said a My Trusty spokesperson.
