Viridian Nutrition has relaunched its sugar detox social media campaign for Lent and Easter on Facebook and Twitter, to encourage people to give up sugar with the help of its 7 Day Sugar Detox Kit.

The campaign offers support to those considering giving up sugar for Lent and is using the main hashtag #7daysugardetox to drive consumers to its website as well as encouraging people to visit their local health store to buy the product.

There is a free downloadable app which enables consumers to set up a personal profile, set a start date and track their progress. There is also information about the benefits of a sugar detox, recipes, a shopping list, store locator and video.

“We ran Viridian’s 7 Day Sugar Detox for the month of January across our four stores and it was a huge success,” commented Cliona Keohane, area manager, Here’s Health Patrick Street, Cork, Ireland. “The timing of this great concept from Viridian is perfect, as there is so much coverage in the media about the negative effects of sugar at the moment. So to have a product launch at a time that people want and need help in reducing their sugar intake is great.

“The fact that the kit contained a diet plan and an app that you could download made the process even easier and we also ran radio ads, newspaper adverts and Facebook campaigns and in-store events during January which created a great buzz and a very positive start to the new year for so many of our customers.

“I loved the fact also that Viridian provide great social media and online support and it really is an exciting thing to be part of. We plan on promoting the 7 Day Sugar Detox again from the 1st of March through to Easter to coincide with Lent and the six weeks build up to Easter.
