Sarwat Jaleel (below), who founded ethical brand Kushboo Soaps in 2018, has been named Entrepreneur Award Winner 2021 in the North West Inspiring Women Awards.

Kushboo produces 100% natural, vegan, SLS and paraben-free soaps and skincare with plastic-free packaging to provide an ethical, sustainable choice to nourish skin with a ‘spa’ experience in the home. Products are created in Kushboo’s ‘soap kitchen’ in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire, and sold online as well as through over 200 independent retailers in the UK and Europe.

Placing ‘giving back’ at the centre of her business strategy, for every bar of soap sold, the business donates a bar to charities supporting vulnerable people, including Ribble Valley Foodbank, Nightsafe in Blackburn and Emmeline’s Pantry in Manchester.

Commenting on the win, Jaleel says: “Winning this award is an honour and a valuable affirmation of all my hard work, dedication and brand values. I am proud to be recognized for promoting sustainability and donating to the vulnerable. I share this award with the Kushboo family – my husband, three daughters, friends and all my lovely loyal customers who have supported me from day one.”

Jacqueline Hughes-Lundy, Inspiring Awards founder, adds: “The Entrepreneur category recognizes those women who take that leap of faith and develop businesses which benefit the economy. Sarwat, with Kushboo Soaps, did that and more. She has developed an ethical business that not only benefits the economy but also benefits the wider community with her ‘one sold, one donated’ philosophy, which helped secure her the award.”
