Having launched its water kefir drinks in 2021, PiQi has now expanded the benefits of fermentation into skincare with its first range of natural, vegan and palm oil-free soaps, handcrafted in Devon.

The soaps are based on fermented water kefir and olive oil and formulated to be gently exfoliating, creamy and moisturizing. They are suitable for all skin types and can be used to cleanse both body and face.

Fermented probiotic water kefir contains gluconic and lactic acids which act as gentle exfoliants to help remove dead skin cells and stimulate cell renewal, leaving skin feeling hydrated, smooth and refreshed.

The PiQi Water Kefir Soaps have launched with three different scents:

  • Lavender & Lemongrass – refreshing and uplifting, this is made with fig-infused fermented water kefir and a combination of soothing lavender and invigorating lemongrass essential oils to create a rejuvenating and revitalizing aromatic experience
  • Orange & Spice – rich in organic acids and nourishing vitamins and minerals, this soap sees zesty and refreshing orange essential oil balanced by the warm and spicy notes of cinnamon to create an uplifting aroma
  • Unscented soap – created for those who prefer fragrance-free products, this gentle nourishing kefir soap is also ideal for those with particularly sensitive skin.

Also on offer is a discovery pack containing all three soaps, and the end of March will see the launch of two new varieties – Charcoal & Tea Tree and Green Clay.

“We are so excited to be expanding our range into skincare. Water kefir is such a wonderful, healthy and versatile product, we’re loving that the benefits of fermentation can now be felt and seen on the outside, as well as being so good for you on the inside,” comments co-founder Aksana Fitzpatrick.
