Sweden’s joint stand at the Natural & Organic Products Expo in London aroused great interest among British buyers. Visitors were particularly impressed by the Swedish companies’ commitment to health and sustainability as well as their innovative products – with everything from oat rice and camelina oil to plant-based burgers and mince made from Swedish organic legumes.
Several of Organic Sweden’s member companies exhibited at this year’s Natural & Organic Products Expo in London. They were met with strong interest from buyers at wholesalers, distributors and stores with a focus on organic, healthy and sustainable food in the UK. Visitors were impressed by everything from taste and packaging design to innovation and commitment to sustainability.
Among the news that attracted a lot of attention was Fazer Mill’s organic “oat rice” – a new and exciting option served in the form of risotto, which many visitors tried for the very first time. Berte Qvarn’s organic “cut oats” were perceived as extra healthy, which created interest. Camelina of Sweden attracted with its oils and seeds from the cultural-historical – and for many unknown – plant Camelina sativa, which stood out with its unique flavor profile.
Plant-based was also in focus at Oh Mungood and many visitors wanted to taste both burgers and “bits” of organic mung beans. The mince farmers presented their mince based on Swedish organic grey peas, faba beans and sweet lupine – a tasty and smart alternative for anyone who wants to broaden their plant-based range on the store shelf or on the menu.
Snack and candy lovers flocked to Dig’s organic snacks, Moonvalley’s organic protein and energy bars and Nordic Chocolate’s bean-to-bar chocolate with Swedish flavors such as birch, sea buckthorn, rowan berries, lingonberries and cloudberries. At Biofood, the wide organic range was a welcome reunion for many of the company’s international partners.
“It’s fantastic to see how our Swedish organic companies really stand out internationally. The visitors highlighted both the taste, the high degree of innovation and the genuine sustainability mindset. There is great potential for the organic products Sweden can offer on the UK market,” says Charlotte Bladh André, CEO, Organic Sweden.
