Ex-Planet Organic CEO Peter Marsh, who headed the organic and health retailer for 13 years until his retirement in 2021, has joined the board of tempeh brand Better Nature to support its expansion plans.

Commenting on his appointment as a non-executive director, Marsh says: “Making high-quality, healthy foods more widely accessible is really important to me. Working with Better Nature to get more people across the UK and further afield eating nutritious, delicious and versatile tempeh is a challenge I’m very excited to take on.”

Better Nature has also appointed eminent food scientist and author Professor Julian McClements – who has published over 1,300 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals – as a new innovation advisor to work closely with brand co-founder and CTO (and his former PhD student), Driando Ahnan-Winarno.

“I am continuously inspired by Better Nature’s drive to make foods more nutritious and accessible, using tempeh,” says McClements. “I am looking forward to supporting Driando and the Better Nature team as they continue to innovate with tempeh to create some of the most nutritionally-dense plant-based foods currently available.”

Adds Christopher Kong, Better Nature’s co-founder and CEO: “We are thrilled to be working with people of Peter and Julian’s expertise, experience and passion for healthy and sustainable food. Their support and guidance will be invaluable as we continue to grow and establish tempeh as a mainstream food, and Better Nature as the leading tempeh brand, in the UK and abroad.”
