Seasonal products from Booja-Booja, NOMO, Marks & Spencer, Aldi, Asda and Tesco have been recognized in the Free From Easter Award 2023 which were announced this month.

The results of this category, which comes within the main annual Free From Food Awards, are announced earlier to enable winning brands to promote their successes in the run-up to Easter Day on 9 April.

“A quarter of UK households avoid milk, be it due to allergy, intolerance, or simply as a lifestyle choice,” says Awards’ CEO Cressida Langlands. “This demonstrates the very real need for free from at Easter, given the importance of chocolate at this time.”

The focus of entries was once again chocolate, but the judging panel praised just how far the Easter offer has come to reflect the desire for inclusivity and the wide variety of products on offer for all ages.

The Gold award winners included three NOMO products, Booja-Booja’s Easter Selection, Aldi’s Dairyfine Eggstreme Choco Egg and Asda’s Extra Special Free From Dark Chocolate Egg with Vanilla Flavour Truffles.

Golds also went to two hot cross buns: one traditional variant in M&S’s Made Without Wheat Gluten Free 4 Hot Cross Buns and Tesco’s Finest Free From Four Chocolate Orange Hot Cross Buns.

“All eight Gold winners will now go through to the final of the main Free From Food Awards,” explains Langlands. “The finalists in all categories will be shared in May, with the winners announced and celebrated at our famous awards presentation party – back for 2023 – in early June.”
