PureNew from sustainable skincare company Pure Lakes comes its first range of essential oil scented candles in two scents: Grapefruit & Lemongrass and Sweet Basil & Orange. The hand-poured vegan-friendly candles are made from a mix of rapeseed and coconut wax. They have no harmful toxins and minimal soot production as well as effective fragrance retention and scent throw. The candles contain essential oils to create a natural scent, with no perfumes, paraffin, petroleum or animal wax, and come in a reusable glass jar which can be returned and refilled for a discounted purchase price. “I’ve always wanted to make our own candles but finding both the best ingredients and developing the most effective scents has been a labour of love,” says Pure Lakes owner Claire McKeever. “We are so thrilled to now have our first two scents on the shelves and to share them with our customers.”

Yorkshire-based independent coffee roaster, Rounton Coffee Roasters, has launched its first line of sustainable specialty coffee pods in response to consumer demand. The organic and fully compostable coffee pods offer the same quality and roast profiles of its three most popular coffees, says the company: The Rich Roast, Sparkling Water Decaf and Rwamatamu. Founder David Beattie says: “Adding coffee pods to our range of products has been on our agenda for a long time … we have spent the last 12 months developing the process to meet our high standards. As a company, we place a high value on sustainability and do our best to reduce waste. It was crucial for us to create coffee pods that are genuinely home-compostable, compromising on this was not an option. Our aim is to provide a more sustainable choice for our customers, while also helping to reduce single-use waste.”

Geeta’s has introduced a new range of Roti Flatbreads to its portfolio to champion the versatility of Indian flavours. The new 8”, soft and flexible Roti Flatbreads come in two flavours – Sweet Onion & Paprika and Five Seeds – with more SKUS due in the autumn. Each pack contains four breads and are great for a multitude of snacking, light meals and on-the-go, as well as the traditional curry meal occasion. Ready to eat, they can also be heated in a pan or microwave. “Indian flavours have widespread consumer acceptance and appeal across a range of meal and snack occasions,” says Eleanor Bridgman, Geeta’s director of marketing. “This, coupled with the fact that shoppers are familiar with the versatility of flatbreads from other cuisines, presents a huge opportunity for our new Roti Flatbreads to invigorate the Indian breads fixture and give consumers more ways to enjoy Indian flavours.”
