With a strategy to harmonize people, profits and the planet, The British Hemp Company (BHC) is a new venture by Steve Glover which has come to market with what it says are the first UK-grown hemp seed products available at scale.

The initial collection includes: Hemp Protein Powder to power up meals, shakes or smoothies with a fresh, nutty flavour; Hemp Seed Oil – raw, cold-pressed oil for salads, spooning and dipping; Whole Hemp Seeds, which can be used to make hemp milk or as a nut replacement in baking; Hulled Hemp Seeds for sprinkling on cereals, soups and yogurts; and Hemp Flour – a nutritious and digestible alternative to wheat flour.

The brand has also launched a number of bodycare products including Hemp Hand Cream with hemp seeds and mango butter to keep hard-working hands smooth and soft, and Hemp Face Oil, which penetrates the dermis to promote healthy cell growth and soothe inflammation, dry skin and eczema. Lip Balm and Body Moisturizer will be amongst further bodycare products rolled out this year.

such of plastic production

The British Hemp Company plans to franchise its operation throughout the UK to create a ‘totally functional UK hemp industry on multiple sites stimulating economic growth through mass job creation and seeding new business’, with opportunities including the production of soaps and bodycare, packing, processing, farming, and expanding its product lines to paper and textiles.

“We exist on a warming, overpopulated and polluted planet,” says Glover, who also founded the Bristol Hemp Company, which in 2017 obtained the first industrial hemp licence in the UK. “It is our mission to farm hemp and make investments into processing that reverse extremely disturbing trends such of plastic production, replace all of the toxic industries that are responsible for the destruction that we see around us every day, and give back to UK communities with employment, education and by promoting the huge health benefits of hemp. With Britain’s rich fertile soil, this could be an abundant resource, in a time when Britain really needs to be more resourceful.”
