Fresh beauty brand Lush ventures into automated retail

Handmade beauty brand Lush has announced the launch of its first automated retail experience via an iLocker vending machine in Coal Drops Yard, King’s Cross, London.

The vending machine is open 24-hours a day and offers consumers fresh, handmade products from the Lush collection, and will initially run for six months. Designed by Anmac, the iLocker is described as a 360° retail experience, with a sustainable design that runs on a low energy output and provides an attractive display.

“Lush has always strived to dazzle our customers, from our product innovations through to bringing our core values into every aspect of our retailing,” says Charlotte Howe, Lush Group retail team. “Using the highest quality of automated retail machines with our partner, Anmac, we are able to surprise and delight with a micro store that is open 24 hours a day to the public at Coal Drops Yard. It is a retail theatre that never sleeps, live glow on the go!”

Adds Helen Cox, Lush Global environment reporting: “These exciting, innovative micro stores will allow us to get our wonderful fresh handmade products into the hands of even more consumers, making it easier for them to make ethical choices. These allow us to get more of our hero products into the world, without the operating impact of a full store.”

Founded in 1995 in Poole, Dorset, Lush now operates 106 shops in the UK and over 900 worldwide in 52 countries.
