Nordic Organic Food Fair & Eco Living Scandinavia relocates to Stockholm for 2024 edition

Nordic Organic Food Fair and Eco Living Scandinavia will move to KistaMässan in Stockholm for the 2024 edition, following industry feedback. The fair, which is recognised as one of the leading and most influential events in the world for the sector, will take place in Stockholm for the first time in its twelve-year history.

The move follows feedback from exhibitors and visitors, who feel the event will benefit from being closer to the larger retail groups in Sweden, who are mostly based in Stockholm, as well as offering easy access from Copenhagen, Oslo, Helsinki and the other major Nordic cities, and for buyers and exhibitors from further afield.

With a population of 2.4 million, Greater Stockholm is the biggest city in Scandinavia and the move will open the show up to important new buyers who have previously found it difficult to attend the show, as well as attract those already attending.

Event Director, Melina Viking, says; “We have listened hard to our partners, exhibitors and friends across the sector, who have encouraged us to bring the show to a new audience by moving to Stockholm. We are delighted to have been able to secure KistaMässan for 2024, which is located close to central Stockholm and the airport. Malmö has been a fantastic venue for the event for many years, and we will be back. But for 2024, after so many successful years in Malmö, many people felt they wanted the show to relocate to Stockholm, to attract more of the major buyers located in the area and to keep the event fresh, with a new focus.”

The news has been welcomed by people across the sector, including Charlotte Bladh André, CEO of Organic Sweden, who said “Following discussions, we welcome the announcement that Nordic Organic Food Fair will move to Stockholm for 2024. The move positions the fair closer to many of the Swedish retail and service chains, which paves the way for more meetings and business opportunities. It will also be very easy for visitors from the Nordic countries as well as the rest of Europe to visit the organic industry at KistaMässan.”

Meanwhile, Marie Lavén, CEO, Biofood, expressed her excitement; “Yes, yes, yes! This is exactly what the industry needs to make organic a priority among purchasing departments. You have our full support with the move, and we look forward to seeing everyone in Stockholm for 2024!”

International pavilions have also welcomed the news, including Aleksandra Gromnicka, Polish Investment & Trade Agency, who said; “This is absolutely fantastic news! Strategically, the Stockholm location will elevate the show to the next level. We see this as an important step to connect with Stockholm buyers whilst retaining an international twist to the event.”

CEDIM, the Italian Trade Office, said “we are delighted and fully supportive of this exciting initiative” and Advantage Austria commented, “Since we mainly operate our Nordic offices from Stockholm, we welcome this move. Denmark has always been one of the most important supporting countries of the fair, reflecting its position as the leading consumer of organic products in the world, with International Market Director, Dennis Hvam from Organic Denmark saying; “We are excited by the decision to move the Nordic Organic Food fair to Stockholm. This relocation represents a strategic shift that aligns perfectly with our goals, ensuring a stronger platform to showcase our fantastic organic offerings and foster international partnerships in a thriving market.”

Retailers from Denmark have also expressed excitement for an opportunity to visit the Swedish capital in 2024; “Stockholm is a much more interesting location for us as we can combine it with store visits to specialty shops to find fresh inspiration. It’s a city at the forefront of innovative retail, offering genuine inspiration for us.” Brian Sonne-Schmidt, Nordic Strategic Buyer, Coop Trading Denmark.

The event is expected to be similar in size to previous years, with over 500 brands set to take part. The event will also continue to benefit from an enhanced Hosted Buyer programme, to ensure that the key buyers from all the Scandinavian countries attend, as well as important buyers from further afield.
