Boots teams with GenM for menopause symbol

GenM

In collaboration with GenM, Boots is introducing a Menopause Friendly symbol to help its customers identify products and services that may be helpful for those experiencing menopause symptoms.

The symbol will be displayed online and in-store alongside around 100 products that can help with over 40 signs and symptoms of menopause – everything from IBS to vaginal dryness, hot flushes and dry eyes. Products include No7 Menopause Skincare and Boots skin:edit collections, Boots Vaginal Moisturiser Gel, Boots Red Clover Isoflavones Tablets and Boots Good Gut Live Friendly Bacteria + Women’s Health Support.

“We are delighted to launch this Menopause Friendly symbol and are grateful to Boots for partnering with us, taking the first step in this industry changing initiative,” says Heather Jackson, co-founder of GenM, which partners with brands to make menopause a more positive experience for everyone. “’The change’ can change everything when you go through it, from nutrition to cosmetics, and even the clothes you might wear. Many at this life stage are busy and time poor, so the symbol help to signpost suitable products easily and simply.

“Most people don’t need to go to the doctors during puberty. We all understand the hormonal and bodily changes of this period, and are aware that it might impact their mood and behaviour. It should be the same with the menopause – you and the people around you should be ready for it. After all, you wouldn’t run a marathon in a pair of slippers. Why are we allowing so many to enter the biggest marathon of their lives physically, mentally and emotionally unprepared?”

Adds Anne Higgins, pharmacy director at Boots: “There’s been so much progress in recent years in terms of menopause awareness. Our mission is to help women through every life stage and in conversations about menopause, it’s so important to highlight the different signs and symptoms and support available. We hope our new Menopause Friendly symbol will make it even easier for women to find the support they need.”

The symbol, which Boots and GenM are calling on other retailers to also employ, will be alongside all relevant products, not just Boots own brands.
