Health & Her launches phytoestrogen-free menopause supplements

Health & Her has created its first live culture, phytoestrogen-free supplements targeting perimenopause and menopause and designed for those who are sensitive to phytoestrogens or other forms of oestrogen.

The Health & Her Biome vegan supplements deliver 50 billion CFUs – the live cultures used in both formulations are the LaB4P consortium blend, supported by 22 clinical trials and scientifically proven to reach the gut alive. The Lab4P blend contains five strains of bacteria – two strains of Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium animalis, Bifidobacterium bifidum and Lactobacillus plantarum.

Perimenopause Biome is aimed at supporting women who are experiencing the effects of menopause but still having periods and combines these live cultures with key vitamins, minerals and botanicals including vitamin B6, which contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity, B2, B5, B12 and magnesium to help reduce tiredness and fatigue, zinc for normal cognitive function and ashwagandha.

Menopause Biome is for women whose periods have stopped and includes vitamins A, B6, B12 and D3 to aid normal function of the immune system, chromium to help maintain normal blood glucose levels, biotin and vitamins A and B2 to contribute to the maintenance of normal mucous membranes, and cranberry.

“When we investigated phytoestrogen alternatives, we identified that live cultures are a great addition to a supplement programme for this life stage,” says brand co-founder, Kate Bache. “The reason why they are important is that numerous clinical studies suggest that the transition to menopause can disrupt the diversity of the microbiome. Given the increasing evidence on the benefit of a diverse microbiome in many aspects of health it was right decision to include live cultures in our formulation.”
