At the Natural & Organic Products Europe exhibition this year, the Italian Trade Agency is promoting 14 companies from all over Italy to present their fantastic offering at a time where the emphasis on natural and organic products is paramount and well consolidated.

According to the Eco-innovation Index, in 2022 Italy was the top country in terms of its efficient use of resources. In addition, there’s a rising number of operators working in the organic sector, currently at 86,144 and counting, which represents an increase of 5.4% from 2020.

Italy has almost 2.2 million hectares of arable land that’s dedicated to organic agriculture and farming. This is the highest percentage of surface area relative to the overall land available (17%), compared to the average in the EU of 9%, which is far from the 25% objective by 2030 that was set out in the ‘Farm to Fork’ strategy.

Italy also leads the way in Europe with regards to incentivising and attracting younger workers to the sector, and for adopting new technologies that strive for a more profound environmental responsibility and sustainability.

Italy affirms itself as the leading country in terms of exports as well. Italian exports of organic products increased by 16% compared to last year, reaching 3.4 billion euros of sales to international markets. From 2012, Italy’s internal organic agri-food market has grown by 131%, while exports have registered an even greater increase of 181%.

For several years now the Italian Trade Agency has had a pavilion of companies exhibiting at the NOPE trade show and this year is no less with 14 companies showcasing their unique and innovative ranges of organic delicacies. The regions range from Calabria, Campania, Emilia Romagna, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Liguria, Lombardy, Marche, Molise and Veneto.
