Huxley Hound organic veggie dog treat brand was victorious on Dragons’ Den earlier this month after two of the dragons made an offer to invest.

Jenny Campbell and Tej Levlani both made founders Mike and Zena Deane an offer, with the couple finally accepting Campbell’s £50,000 investment for a 15% stake in the business over Levlani’s bid of 20% for the same amount.

The money will be used for a new packaging push (the brand has already unveiled a vibrant new look) and product development.

“Even though Mike and I have always known that we were onto something rather special, to receive glowing tributes from such business-savvy dragons is not only reassuring but worth its weight in gold,” says Zena. “Indeed, since the show first aired we’ve been bagging a fresh order every six minutes!”

Huxley Hound treats contains fully traceable organic vegetables, including carrots, sweet potatoes, beetroot and parsnips, which are dehydrated to retain their essential minerals and vitamins.

Zena adds: ‘Of course, we’re not trying to turn committed carnivores into reluctant vegetarians, we’re simply advocating, that in a world where one in three UK dogs is now deemed clinically obese that any well-balanced doggie diet should encompass an accessible and affordable veggie fix.”

Huxley Hound products are Vegan Society and Vegetarian Society approved.
