Planet Organic opened its first store in south London this week (November 7) with a pledge to “bring back food you can trust” to south Londoners.

The new store, in Wandsworth’s South-Side shopping centre, is the retailer’s sixth in the capital.

Against a backdrop of food scandals and deepening public disillusionment with the giant supermarket chains, Planet Organic says it is confident that it can bring back to South Londoners the idea of “food you can trust” – encouraging shoppers to know what they are eating, and where it comes from.

Described as a “one-stop shop full of all the right choices” the new store offers shoppers south of the river the same combination of intelligently edited product mix and well trained and knowledgeable sales staff that that has helped Planet Organic deliver strong growth right through the recession.

Planet Organic’s CEO, Peter Marsh, said: “Planet Organic is more than an organic supermarket. It is a speciality food store and centre of excellence for nutrition and healthy eating. Southside shopping centre presents us with a fantastic opportunity to offer our 8,000 strong range of food, health and wellbeing products in an exciting and developing area of London, in a location accessible to those already shopping at the larger retailers in the centre. ”
