The Big Fairtrade Breakfast

This year’s Fairtrade Fortnight (29 February – 13 March) aims to highlight the severe lack of food security for farmers with its ‘Sit down for breakfast. Stand up for farmers’ campaign.

Hoping to encourage shoppers, campaigners and businesses to take action, this year’s event will focus on breakfast in a bid to inspire the UK public to sit down for breakfast in support of the farmers who grow the food we have every morning, such as coffee, tea, cocoa and bananas.

So why not join in and create a stir in your store? The Fairtrade Foundation is challenging you to organize your own Big Fairtrade Breakfast and make your breakfasts count by registering them on the Big Fairtrade Breakfast totalizer. You can also download a free action guide from the website which is full of information and inspiration.

So whether it’s offering your customers a bowl of Fairtrade muesli or a cup of Fairtrade tea or coffee and a Fairtrade muffins or cereal bar, or handing out Fairtrade bananas or juice, get in on the action and help spread the word.

You may even end up winning one of the Big Fairtrade Breakfast Awards for The Big Fairtrade Breakfast Champion, The Best Local Fairtrade Breakfast, The Biggest Fairtrade Breakfast or The Most Creative Fairtrade Breakfast.
