Yorkshire Provender celebrates seasonal flavours

Yorkshire Provender has developed two new soups for autumn as well as a special variety specifically for Christmas.

The autumn flavours are Mushroom Soup with Wholegrain Black Rice and Super Broccoli & Lancashire Cheese Soup.

Belinda Williams, founder of Yorkshire Provender, teamed up with foodie friends Riso Gallo Venere Black Rice and Farmhouse Lancashire Cheese to create the distinctive autumn recipes.

Mushroom Soup with Wholegrain Black Rice is described asmagnificently mushroomy’ and wonderfully ‘forest floor’, with little nutty grains of black rice which give bite and texture with a scattering of Regato, an Italian style hard cheese (not parmesan, making it suitable for vegetarians) and freshly chopped parsley.

Super Broccoli & Lancashire Cheese Soup is said to be a cheese lovers’ dream. Super green broccoli is cooked with leeks to form a creamy base and finished with a scatter of fresh, crumbly Farmhouse Lancashire Cheese and a pinch of nutmeg for that seasonal feel.

Williams has also created a Christmas Turkey & All The Trimmings soup for this year’s Christmas market.

“This festive soup has all the flavours reminiscent of a traditional family gathering,” said Williams. “Tender turkey partners cranberry, roasted parsnips, sage and onion and delicate spices to bring you Christmas in a bowl (reindeer, baubles and tinsel not included). Each pot is high in protein, low in fat and a great source of iron, zinc, phosphorus, potassium and B vitamins – and it contains at least two of your five a day.”
