Loose-leaf tea company eteaket has opened a retail shop in Edinburgh, as a complementary offer to its existing tea room, which is situated just around the corner.

Eteaket founder and MD, Erica Moore, told NPN the reason behind the opening of a retail store: “It was really to give us a chance to showcase what we can do with tea. Although it’s a retail shop people coming in get a chance to taste a variety of teas brewed in lots of different ways, so it’s very interactive.”

The innovative store layout includes glowing siphons in the window in which different teas are brewed as well as cold-brew tea on tap, so customers are able to try before they buy.

“The store is very different from our tea room,” explains Moore. “It is very minimalist – we let the tea do the talking – so it’s quite sleek and pared back. It’s very modern, British, contemporary and exciting. We’ve got all our teaware along one wall and all our teas along the other wall, and these are colour-coded. We have big pipes coming in – black pipes leading to the black tea section, green leading to the green tea section and so on.”eteaket-1

“We’ve got a nice tasting space where we are wanting to do different events,” says Moore. “People will be able to come in for tea flights, where they will be guided through teas from all around the world, paired with things like our tea-infused chocolate. We will be doing evening events as well, starting with an introduction to speciality teas, and we can do corporate events too.”
