Late last month the B Corporation certification initiative – already being successfully implemented in the US, South America, Canada and Australia – officially launched in Europe, with Ecover establishing itself as a founding member.

The introduction of B Corp certification aims to drive an upsurge in greener, socially responsible and impact-driven brands, inspiring people to use business as a force for good.

B Corp certification demands rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability and is said to be a much-welcomed standard with consumers increasingly demanding not only that products are good, but also companies themselves.

Tom Domen, innovation manager for Ecover, commented on the move: “We are delighted Ecover is a founding B Corporation in Europe as we believe businesses should go further and be restorative to society, the environment and our economy. For over 35 years we have been a pioneer in green cleaning, sustainably producing products that improve the livelihoods of people and enhance our environment.
