Loving it: The dieticians’ conference catered by McDonald’s

Question: What do dieticians eat at their annual confab? Answer: McDondald’s.

At least that was the case at the recent two-day annual conference of the California Dietetic Association, as reported by Mother Jones magazine

Senior editor, Kiera Butler, attended the event and was surprised to find that McDonald’s was the sole provider of lunch, and a ‘gold sponsor’ of the conference.

Individual conference sessions also had food industry sponsors – a session on the safety and benefits of sweeteners was sponsored by the American Beverage Association, while another – titled ‘Sweeteners in Schools: Keeping Science First in a Controversial Discussion’ –was brought to delegates by a major producer of high fructose corn syrup.
